About Wye

Wye Huxford is a preacher, professor, University administrator and writer striving to share God’s plan for renewing and restoring His creation.

A native of Berkeley County, South Carolina, Wye is an honors graduate of Atlanta Christian College (now Point University). He earned a master of divinity, also with honors, from Cincinnati Christian University, where his studies focused on New Testament and theology.

He joined the faculty of Atlanta Christian College in 1976, teaching in the areas of New Testament, theology, and biblical interpretation. After eight years as a full-time faculty member, he became the preaching minister at First Christian Church, now located in Tyrone, Georgia. He served that church for 20 years, leading it through a major relocation project. He remained engaged in academic life as an adjunct professor at ACC throughout this time.

After 20 years in preaching ministry, Wye was named executive director of the European Evangelistic Society, which has a historic Institute for the Study of Christian Origins in Tübingen, Germany; he also continued to teach in an adjunct capacity.

In 2006, Wye was asked to return to what is now Point University in a full-time capacity as a vice president. He served for 13 years as vice president for spiritual formation and dean of the chapel, focused on the spiritual health of the entire University family. He now serves as Dean of the College of Biblical Studies and Ministry, overseeing the University’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Wye has made more than 30 trips to foreign mission stations, Christian colleges and campus ministries. He served for many years as chairman of the board of Woodland Christian Camp and Retreat Center in Temple, Georgia.

Wye was married for 48 years to his college sweetheart and classmate, Vicki, who was a vital companion in both ministry and life until her passing in 2021. Wye has two adult daughters, who are both professors at Point, and two sons-in-law.
